DevOps Systems Engineer Irvine, CA

As we continue to move more of our business into the cloud, we need to add a Productions Operations System Engineer to our Engineering Operations and Practices team.  This is a hands on technical role that will require strong communication and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders (both internal and external).

The challenge of this role is to manage the responsibility of an ever improving, diverse set of systems and platforms that support all customer facing products and services.  At Nintex, you will find a mixed environment of Windows and Linux systems running Microsoft stack and Open Source applications.  The role includes overseeing our managed environments, working with product teams on improving our approach to continuous deployment and working with your peers at the SAAS, PAAS and IAAS levels.

The reward of this role will be assisting in the streamlining our infrastructure and process to the delight of our product teams as well as our clients. You will truly be the Ops in DevOps.

The day to day:

  • Maintain and grow our normal operations and interface with our vendors
  • Management of our hosting servers and systems, ensuring the sustained availability, performance and security
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of technical, policies, and procedural documentation
  • Assist with regular network penetration and/or vulnerability scanning
  • Build and maintain redundancy, back-up and restore strategies
  • Work with external providers, including monitoring service level agreements
  • Help prepare and participate in audits of Nintex products and systems
  • Assist in the development of a preventative maintenance program
  • Work within a 24/7 monitoring and support model, including on-call escalation point and incident management

A little bit about you:

  • Solid 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Firm understanding and experience in a DevOps culture
  • Server administration experience (Windows and Linux), Microsoft System Center preferred
  • Experience in a cloud-based infrastructure, specifically: Azure or O365
  • Experience executing clearly defined Production Operation standards and processes
  • Knowledge of Microservices
  • Experience working in a container environment, Docker preferred
  • Experience with current monitoring tools as well as delivery and development tooling such as Team City and Octopus Deploy
